“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Luke 1:41
We’re in the season of gift giving. Even though shopping looks different, some are determined to find just the right gift for their loved ones. And it brings us joy to bless others.
And practical gifts are nice, but have you ever been given something that made your jaw drop and your eyes pop? Like the car commercial where the husband bought two cars and his wife said, “I love it!” But she was speaking about the car that he had wanted! Her joy was so unimaginable that he gave in and let her have it.
In Luke 1 we see 2 wise women. Mary, who had just been told about the miracle seed she would carry by way of the Holy Spirit, and her cousin, Elizabeth, who was carrying a miracle seed of her own. The angel had told Mary that Elizabeth was pregnant, as confirmation that nothing's too hard for God.
It's unimaginable the love that God has for us, the grace that He gives to us, and the great things God has in store for us!
"Eye has not seen, nor ear has heard, nor the mind of man has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him"
1 Corinthians 2:9
Jesus came to show us how to live w joy, unimaginable joy. And we've got to share this joy with the world, everywhere we go.
So keep your practical gifts, this Christmas I want the exceeding, surpassing, supernatural, unimaginable gift of Jesus! I want joy this year! Everlasting joy!
There was no room for Him in the inn, but there's room in my heart. They wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and He has wrapped His arms of grace and mercy around us. Hark! The herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King!
This Sunday is the third Sunday of Advent. A time of joy, everlasting joy. Worship with us online this Sunday at 10:00am, at www.umcgt.org, or via phone by calling 562-314-1212, as we talk about the Unimaginable Gift that brings everlasting joy!
Hopefully you’ve received your Christmas gift from the church, an invitation to RightNow Media, the Christian “Netflix” app that gives you access to thousands of Bible studies! I know you’re going to find great content to grow your faith and increase your joy.
May God continue to bless you and keep you, and may your joy increase daily!
Blessings,
Pastor Linda
