Praise the Lord!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Psalm 150:6
We have spent the month of September immersing ourselves in the book of Psalms. A worthy task to say the least! We’ve heard sermons on the Psalms, listened to the Psalms Praylist, and learned how to see Jesus in the Psalms in Bible study.
As we come to the end of the month, we will take a look at the last handful of Psalms, Psalm 145-150. They are full of praises to God, Yahweh, our Lord, with the culminating phrase: Praise the Lord! In fact, in Psalm 150, the final psalm, the psalmist is so full of praise that he cries it out thirteen times in those six short verses.
It is fitting that a book that covers the whole range of human emotions – suffering, heartache, mourning, joy, and hope; a book that speaks of curses and blessings, and the promises of God, should end with the exhortation to praise the One who brought us through it all.
And when you think about who God is…
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fathom.
Psalm 145:3
…when you think about how God provides…
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
Psalm 146:7-8
…and when you think about God’s presence in our very lives…
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3
…there’s really only one response to so great a love – let’s say it together: Praise the Lord!
I invite you to join us this Sunday as we close out the month of Psalms with the sermon: Praise the Lord! It’s also Back to Church Sunday at Green Trails, so make sure to share the love of Christ by bringing someone with you.
Memorial Service Our beloved member, Oak Boese, will be celebrated in a memorial service this Saturday, September 23, at 2:30pm at the church. Let us keep Michelle and Riley in our prayers.
The Psalms Praylist You still have time to listen! From now until September 30 you can tune in and hear the reading of Psalms, each and every day! Thanks to some wonderful folks, we will hear a variety of voices praying the Psalms. All you do is listen and pray. And don’t worry, if you missed some, you can still go back and listen to them. The podcast can be accessed in 2 ways – thru a program called Spreaker or on Podbean:
For Spreaker: go to www.spreaker.com. In the program’s searchbar type in: Psalms Praylist. The logo is:
For Podbean: go to www.podbean.com. Search for: Psalms Praylist.
Both programs have an app, if that’s easier for you to utilize.
Trivia Night & the Silent Auction were a blast! This was the first of our Anniversary celebration events, and it was so much fun. Thanks to Amanda Hughes for heading it up, and to the whole team who helped make it such a blessing.
55 for 55 Our anniversary fundraising goal is $55,000 in honor of 55 years of faithful service and generosity. I invite you to consider how you will participate in giving. Whether it’s $5, $500, or some multiple of 5, no gift is too small (or too large!). There is a line for 55 Anniversary giving on our e-giving site, or you can write “Anniversary” on the memo line of your check. We will culminate our 55th Church Anniversary celebration on Sunday, November 5, with worship and dinner. Let’s celebrate 55 for 55!
