A LEGACY OF GIVING

Let the giving begin! Or should I say let it continue. Something happens in November. People turn their minds toward giving. Some folks even get a little nicer – some! It’s amazing how our mood subtly changes when the calendar turns to November. We become more focused on giving to others.

As Christians, we give differently. Our giving is out of gratitude and praise to God who has blessed us abundantly with far more than we could ever ask or imagine. And Green Trails has a legacy of giving. I’ve heard of the many exploits of this church:

UMW cookie walks, benefiting ministry with women & children,

UMM potato drops that have fed thousands over the years,

Feeding the 5000 that provides nourishing food to the poor,

Youth & adult mission trips, helping others in their time of need,

Adopting the Dondo Orphanage in Mozambique & providing funding

Providing for families at GT Elementary through Friday Food.

And the hundreds of spaghetti packs, sauce, underwear, gloves, stuffing, & DIAPERS that have been donated just this year alone!

I could name many other ways in which this church has given to the Lord by giving to others, but the main way in which you have been a blessing is through your faithful giving to your church! I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – your generosity blows my mind! It enables the church to provide these vital ministries, as well as exciting worship experiences, to be there for online worshipers, and have the resources we need to make it all happen!

Every year around this time, the church prepares to celebrate Consecration Sunday, dedicating our pledges to the Lord. And on Sunday, November 28, we will continue the tradition. You should have received a letter from me, including a pledge card. I want to encourage you to pray, complete your pledge for 2022, and return the card to the office or bring it with you on Consecration Sunday. I will pray over them, dedicating every pledge to God, and offering a blessing on the households represented.

God is so good! Will you join us in giving thanks to God through our giving, so that we can continue to be a blessing to others? Remember, it’s not about equal giving, but equal sacrifice. Whatever the pledge, it is a blessing, for which we are thankful.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”

2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV

This Sunday, I will be worshiping with my husband, celebrating Union Memorial’s 175th Anniversary! And Green Trails will be blessed with Pastor Rocky bringing a powerful word from the Lord! To register for worship, you can sign up at https://rsvp.church/r/gVufUAP4__ . You can also join us online at 10:00am. For online worship go to www.umcgt.org.

Have a wonderful worship experience and may you and your family enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving!

With Gratitude,

Pastor Linda
