Vision.Values

During the first part of 2007, our church came together to renew the question,"What is God calling us to become during the next three years?"  From a series of conversations we created a vision prayer and named the values we will use to guide our congregation.

Our Vision Prayer:

God, help us to live like Jesus as we create safe and open spaces for spiritual exploration and ministry for all.

Our Values:

The United Methodist Church of Green Trails is
  • A body of Christ;
  • Offering a safe, open accepting environment;
  • Committed to excellence in ministry with all ages;
  • Passionate, enthusiastic, nurturing responsible and caring;
  • Seeking what it means to love God, self, and one another;
Through worship, education, and service to West County and the larger world.

Our Formation

Our faith and ministry is formed and informed by the dynamic relationship between scripture, tradition, experience and reason.
  • Scripture--We honor scripture as our primary source of spiritual authority and believe that scripture offers all persons the living Word of God, which deepens understanding of the work of God in the world and our role in that divine work.
  • Tradition--We believe the traditions that developed through the witness of our spiritual mothers and fathers offer all persons the wisdom and guidance of a rich heritage of spiritual teaching and practive.
  • Experience--We believe that God's grace is for all persons, and the experience of God's grace shapes our lives, affirming and challenging our attitudes and actions.
  • Reason--We believe that reason is a God-given gift, deepening our knowledge and understanding of God's self-revelation in scripture, tradition and experience.
