Safety Awareness for Family Environments
Green Trails is working to halt family violence one restroom at a time.
Women of all ages are asked to "adopt a restroom" in their hair or nail salon, favorite restaurant, gym, school, grocery store, etc. We will supply a small, purse-sized brochure with information about domestic violence and the contact information for area shelters, hot-lines and other resources.
After meeting with the manager of the establishment, the information is placed in a small plastic envelope and affixed inside stalls of women's restrooms. Why restrooms? They are private places where a woman dealing with abuse can discreetly choose to pick up the information and slip it into a purse or pocket.
The ongoing commitment: Make it point to refill the brochure holders as you regularly visit the establishment of your choice.
